Statement
The Return and Comic Mother are a continuation of my latest series of Rewilding--a collection of paintings exploring the themes of family, marriage, motherhood, reparenting, and reconstruction. It follows the psycho-spiritual process of re-examining the identities and ideologies I adopted as a young person desperate for belonging, and a return to my inner knowing after grieving the stories I was led to believe. Rewilding combines natural imagery, traditional structures, Biblical allegory, and personal narrative to critique the systems that shaped my world.
The Return represents personal clarity and a presentation of choice, while Cosmic Mother presents a window into the pulsing center of all things--the garden that exists at the an intersection of the heavens and the earth; divinity and human memory.
Rewilding invites viewers to consider the myths that shape our material reality and the restorative power of returning home to your deepest truths.
