DO YOUR WORST
A SHAMELESS ART AUCTION TO SUPPORT KCAC
CALL FOR ART
We’re flipping the script. For one night only, we want your most questionable, most confusing, and most delightfully disastrous creations. This is your moment to shine… by submitting your worst art.
Yes, you read that right.
The Kansas City Artists Coalition invites artists of all styles and skill levels to submit work for our newest fundraiser: DO YOUR WORST — A live comedy-infused auction of art that no one should want… but everyone will fight to take home.
WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR:
Art you made at 2AM and instantly regretted
Experiments gone wrong (or VERY wrong)
Things you found in your studio and thought, “...eh, maybe?”
That one piece your mom didn’t hang on the fridge
Beautiful disasters, bold misfires, or unexplainable masterpieces
RULES? BARELY.
Any medium welcome (as long as it can be safely displayed or carried home)
Limit: 2 works per artist
Works must be ready to hang, lean, or prop (we’re bad—not chaotic)
Title your work, or let us do it for you (and trust us—we will)
Fine Print (Because We Still Have Standards… Sort Of)
We welcome humor, boldness, and joyful disasters—but we won’t accept:
Hateful, harmful, or discriminatory content of any kind
Copyrighted imagery (unless you have permission to use it)
Anything that promotes violence, bigotry, or makes the room weird for the wrong reasons
If your art could cause legal trouble or a community meltdown, we’ll politely decline it—no hard feelings! Let’s keep it bad, not bad vibes.
DEADLINE:
Submissions due by July 25th, 2025
EVENT DATE:
“Do Your Worst” Auction Night — August 8th, 2025

🍌 It's funny — bananas are naturally goofy and a classic symbol of silliness (slapstick comedy = banana peels!).
🍌 It's unexpected — just like bad art, a random banana makes people do a double-take and laugh.
🍌 It’s low stakes — bananas are common, imperfect, and not taken too seriously — exactly the vibe we’re aiming for.
🍌 It hints at "slipping up" — like artists purposely making bad art... slipping into ridiculousness on purpose.
🍌 It’s bright and bold — a pop of yellow looks amazing!
🍌Because we’d love to raise $6.5M dollars - the same amount as the duct tape banana which sold at auction!
