OPEN STUDIOS FOR ART LOVERS
Whether you are new to the art world or a
seasoned collector, Open Studios is for everyone. Forget about getting dressed
up, sipping wine and speaking in hushed tones about the meaning of art, and set
out on a fun and free adventure. You can see ceramics,
drawing, painting, photography, prints, sculpture, woodworking and
much more.
Enter the world of local artists in their galleries, homes, studios, artist co-ops, and other retail locations. Open Studios is a free and fun event.

Visit the Kansas City Artists Coalition's galleries at 201 Wyandotte, KCMO the Open Studios Preview Exhibition is on display. There you can see one artwork by each Open Studios artist.
Purchase "ARTNOW, The Guide to Kansas City Artists" at the Kansas City Artists
Coalition, area bookstores, and other retail venues. This fabulous,
full-color book
contains at least one artwork image for each Open Studios artist, their artist's statement, Open Studios location and maps of the various Open Studios neighborhoods. The book also contains more informatiion about Open Studios and the Artists Coalition by Ada Koch and essays by Janet Simpson on collecting art and Megan Lynch on life and art in Spain.

WHEN IS OPEN STUDIOS?
Open Studios Weekend Two is November 10-11 from 11-4pm and encompasses studios in the greater metropolitan area.
Open Studios Weekend One was November 3-4 from 11-4pm and encompassed studios in the downtown corridor and the west bottoms.
HOW DO I FIND THE ARTIST STUDIOS?
There are several resources for you to find the artists and their Open
Studios location.
OPEN STUDIOS PREVIEW EXHIBITION.
Each of the participating artists in Open Studios will have a piece of artwork on display for the Open Studios Preview Exhibition in the Kansas City Artists Coalition galleries from October 19 - November 15. This is an excellent way for viewers to see a wide selection of work and narrow down locations they wish to visit. The hours of the Open Studios Preview Exhibition are Wednesday-Saturday from 11-6pm and
Sundays, November 4 & 11 from 11-4pm.
ARTIST LISTINGS. The KC Star Preview and The Pitch will have a list of the artists one for each weekend just prior to the weekend.
ARTNOW. The Guide To Kansas City Artists is the Open Studios book. It serves as Kansas City's who's who for visual artists.
The publication includes reproductions of participating artists' images and artists' statements, as well as, artist studio locations shown on
maps of the city. Information is indexed for ease of use.
DO I HAVE TO CALL AHEAD TO VISIT A STUDIO?
Absolutely not. All of the artist studios, no matter where they are located, will be
open from 11-4pm on their designated weekend. Some artists may have expanded their hours, so you may
call ahead to determine those.
CAN I PURCHASE ART AT OPEN STUDIOS?
Absolutely. Artists will have artwork for sale, in a variety of price ranges. Some
artists may have a price sheet for you to look at. If you don't see one,
feel free to ask for one or just ask the price of the piece you are
interested in. You may encounter artwork for sale from under $100 to many
thousands of dollars. Not all artists will be equipped with credit card
machines, so please be prepared to make other payment arrangements. Many artists also welcome commissions.
