PREVIEW EXHIBITION BEGINS OCTOBER 19
Open Studios is the largest area art event held to benefit local artists. Artists invite the public into their studios and KCAC provides education, publicity, a gallery exhibition, an illustrated catalog and advertising in order to make this event successful for the participating artists and to help the community enjoy this cultural event. It is an event that helps artists market themselves to both new and existing art audiences. Click the green links on the right side or bottom of this page for more information.
Each artist is assigned one weekend (determined by geography). Artists’ studios will be open Saturday and Sunday 11am to 4pm. These weekends will be fun for everyone and are a way for artists to show and sell their artwork.

The first open studio in Kansas City took place in October, 2000. The Kansas City Artist Coalition organized this huge event that coordinated the participation of 223 artists and covering 14 counties.
All aspects of Open Studios surpassed even the most optimistic expectations. Two hundred and thirteen artists agreed to participate in this new venture to show their work and introduce Kansas City to a large number of impressive and talented artists living and working here.
Those who came to explore were thrilled with this new way to view artwork. They received a personalized tour of what it takes to be creative and produce the visual outcome of an idea.
